Allowing Usage of Mobile Phone in Flights – Right Move or Not???

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has removed the ban on the use of portable electronic devices including mobile phones during a flights in India. The rules that were amended seem to address DGCA’s civil aviation requirement 3.1 which had stated, “No person shall use any electronic device, which intentionally transmits radio signals like mobile/cellular phones, amateur radio transceivers, etc at all times while on board an aircraft for the purpose of flight.” It could have also changed rule in Aircraft rule (29 B): “No person shall operate, nor shall the operator or the pilot-in-command of an aircraft allow the operation of any portable electronic device on board an aircraft in flight.”

This order might be seen as a good news to almost all the frequent air travelers but don’t you think that usage of mobile phones in flights would be a threat to the safety. Above all this, in January, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recommended to allow mobile services too during the air travel. At, we are starting a debate on this…we would like to invite our readers to share their views and comments on the development… you are requested to do a healthy debate… anything unethical or in bad taste would be removed…
